Lasering a Acrylic Christmas Tree - Madison, Wi - Laser
This is a how-to video on lasering an acrylic Christmas tree. Madison, Wi. Starting with an idea on paper, the drawing is transposed to Corel Draw, and the output file is sent to the CO2 laser engraver for cutting. Two edge-lit 1/8 inch acrylic sheets were used for this project (32x20 inch). Each sheet takes over 30 minutes to cut out the various shapes. Finally, the pieces are assembled onto a threaded rod on a acrylic base. From start to finish, the project took the better part of a day. The completed tree is about 16 inches in height and 12 inches in diameter at the bottom. The edge-lit acrylic looks fantastic in sunlight, or lit by LED lights at night.
This project was conceived and lasered by Greg "Pepe" Giese of Global Energy and Ocean Ethanol.
